The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was started in the year 1939. The Department maintains good rapport with industries. This Department offers three year Diploma Programme in Electrical and Electronics Engineering which was accredited by NBA in 2005 and 2011 and four year Diploma Programme in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Sandwich). The Department is equipped with laboratories for teaching both basic and applied courses in Electrical and Electronics Engineering like Electrical Machines, Power Electronics, Microprocessor and Microcontroller, Computer Simulation, Analog and Digital Electronics.
Apart from the curriculum, experts are invited for specialised topics to add additional skills for the students. Guest lectures are arranged through associations for the students in order to be in-line with the industries. Students are visiting reputed industries during their course of study. PSG Polytechnic College, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering along with Schneider Electric India, Bengaluru jointly established “PSG-Schneider Electrician Training Centre” at PSG Polytechnic College. This lab is sponsored by Schneider India Foundation Limited, Bengaluru. Laboratory is equipped with all Electrical Wiring and demo boards with necessary accessories and tools. This centre will be utilised by the students of EEE and allied branches, PSG Polytechnic College, PSG Industrial Institute and Skill Training Students.
An Objective of the partnership with Schneider Electric India Foundation and PSG PTC is to train the students for the need of the industry. Skillful training will be provided to gain more practical knowledge in Electrical wiring from well trained faculty members from schneider and PSG Polytechnic College with an enriched equipment in the centre. Trainees who are school or college drop outs would be made job ready in just 3 – 4 months of holistic training.
